CTrill first began doing music back in '09 as a freshman in high school with his best friend Noah Kelly. At the time, he went by the name Young Polo where his music was solely about wearing polos and girls. Things changed drastically around his sophomore year at Union High School. He had started to attending these monthly concerts held at his church; Greenwood Christian Center now known as Transformation Church. The concerts were hosted by Mr. Young, fly & Saved, Willie Moore Jr. It was at one of these concerts CTrill heard the call of God so clear. Willie spoke life to him and he fully gave his life to Christ. At first things were rocky as he dealt with his insecurities nevertheless CTrill has continued to push forward with what God has given him.
CTrill released his first single September 12th 2014 featuring MC titled “I Love Em”.
Which made approximately 9517 plays on soundcloud alone. His focus is building a strong foundation in God as he begins to travel, doing shows all over. He is currently working to finish his first released album, Poles Apart.
We got a chance to speak with Ctrill, here’s he had to say!
KingdomSoldNYC: How would you describe your music?
CTrill: I think I would describe it is, it’s really just everyday Hip Hop describing life how I live it. A 20 year old kid going to college but most importantly my love for Christ. All of that is intertwined in my music and I believe that is a relatable standpoint that people can vibe to and hear a good message as well.
KingdomSoldNYC: What made you realize you wanted to pursue this?
CTrill: Exactly about 9th grade in high school, I used to be called Young Polo and all my friends and I were doing music . It started in the cafeteria freestyle rapping and beating on the table. The artist Willie Moore Jr was hosting these concerts at my church and I never really heard gospel music like that in a while. Willie spoke into my life where he really tapped into the purpose for my life and through that God began to reveal music as one of the stepping stones that He really wants me to reach people though. I've just been walking in that ever since and God is opening doors and I’m grateful for it.
KingdomSoldNYC: I know you mentioned Willie Moore Jr, but what has been your strongest influence to continue?
CTrill: Him as well as my pastor, Pastor Michael Todd. He’s a producer as well, He has given me such a mind for music and has really spoken into my life. Those are two of my greatest influences.
KingdomSoldNYC: Is there anything you hope to accomplish?
CTrill: My biggest thing as I am working on this music is that God really begins to speak through me. We can have good music, hype music and all that good stuff but the best way for it to reach the people is if we’re really open for God to move through us wholeheartedly. I don't want anything coming straight from me I want everything to come straight from God. I believe though that in being obedient to the Holy Spirit, He’s gunna elevate me. I’m working on my album now but I’m really just praying that through that we can make some major moves.
KingdomSoldNYC: God willing, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Ctrill: God Willing, In the next 5 years I’m really praying that I’m at a certain standpoint where I am able to be an influence to many people around the world doing music and whatever else God has given me. Hopefully influencing other artist, producing but just growing as the years progress.
KingdomSoldNYC: Where can people go to stay up to date with your music?
CTrill: Follow me on Instagram or Twitter; CTrill95. Through that I will be posting all my new music and stuff. I do have soundcloud you can check www.soundcloud.com/ctrill95 and I also have a page on YouTube, same thing Ctrill95. That's where everybody can reach me at. I hope everybody can reach me and love what I am doing here, so Thank you.
KingdomSoldNYC: Is there anything you would like to say to your supporters?
CTrill: I’ve always been the person behind the scenes, behind other artist and you can say the underdog so I really thank all of my supporters for sticking with me. Even now I’m still at my low point in music, I’m still progressing but I really thank everybody for just sticking with me and really rocking with me and really rocking with the gift God has put inside of me. So shout out to everyone from my town to all over.
