That’s been something that has fueled my ministry because I think there is apart of us that feels like God can’t save us. We kind of look at ourselves like we we’re too bad, too far or not valuable enough for God to save us, like He wouldn’t want to. So I’ve just learned that God is bigger, greater and more amazing than that.
KingdomSoldNYC: Thats it! So we want to ask you when did your journey begin as a Christian Artist?
Naomi: My journey began many years ago. I’ve been singing since my first concert literally when I was 3. I’ve been singing for a very long time. There’s been times where I sang R&B and did other things like writing in for other genres but I always sing for God. That was primary. Officially in terms of artistry maybe 9 years ago in 2007.
KingdomSoldNYC: Tell us about that, your early projects as an artist.
Naomi: I worked with a few different producers, a lot of what I was doing was writing and going to different churches to sing. Then I started working with the producer A-Minor, we did some music and then recorded the A- Minor Music Project and that was really fun.
KingdomSoldNYC: What was your first single?
Naomi: My first single was “Open Heaven” in April of 2014.
KingdomSoldNYC: A couple months ago you released “Finish Strong”, What inspired those lyrics?
Naomi: I was reading a book by John Acuff, called “ Start: Punch Fear In The Face, Escape Average and Do Work That Matters” It was really great. I actually listening to the audio in my car and at the time I was pregnant with my son and I remember just feeling like I was in a rut and things are not going to work out. All of my dreams and everything I wanted to do was just not going to work out. It really encouraged me to just get up and go. There was a story in the book about this woman that worked with people who were at the end of their lives and she said one of the greatest regrets was not living life to the fullest. I was inspired and I started to write the song right there in the car, I turned off the audio and literally it came to me right there. It flowed out of me and by the time I got home I was able to put it on the guitar and give it some wheels.
KingdomSoldNYC: It’s an inspirational song, to get up and go. Naomi, what pushes you as an artist?
Naomi: I have a relentless drive for progress, I have a desire to be better and do more because God has blessed me so much. It’s the gratefulness, when I look around I have no choice but to give God one hundred and seventeen thousand percent. I gotta give it all. There’s time where I fall back and kind of get in a rut but there are things that motivate me like my family. I really want more for my children and I think my husband and I have been successful with that. Not just more materialistically but just being support, love and leading them further than what we were given. I think that’s the point of life- leaving my kids with not only a physical inheritance but also a spiritual inheritance where they understand this is why we live. We are living to worship God. That's what fuels me, these 3 children and my husband. This is our mission. This is what it is, this is our life.
KingdomSoldNYC: What’s next for you, do you have any plans as we end out 2015?
Naomi: Right now I am in the process of recording another EP, Right now I have an album out that came out in August. However again, I’m in the process of recording. There’s so much music in me and I have to get it out! (Laughs). Some people say “you need to wait” I’m like wait for what? People like music, I need to put the music out and let’s just Go. I am working with Gary Coach (The mastermind behind Destiny Music Group). We linked up at the concert and we realized God is doing something here, so we’ve developed this musical relationship that is just Great! He’s really like one of my best friends right now, we’re getting music done and it’s awesome!
KingdomSoldNYC:Where can we keep in touch with you?
Naomi: www.Naomirainemusic.com There it will lead you to social media, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook...I’m all over the place (laughs)
KingdomSoldNYC: Anything you would like to say, from promo to a shout out or even an encouraging word to anyone that may come across this interview?
Naomi: Um….Mhmm….I would say definitely pick up the Album. “Heart Songs” Vol 1- My Heart. Naomi Raine with an “E”. The next Ep will be out soon, just stay connected. I want to do a concert, I want to do something where we can get everybody in one room and just worship God together, so just stick around. I should be at the Ology in the Bronx soon just stay connected, everything will be on Facebook. There’s a lot of good stuff in the mix that everybody can get connected to- to support the kingdom and kingdom work. Not just me but everybody that is doing doing kingdom work. Keep your head up, God is amazing, God is good and He is even better than we think He is. He just gets better and better. So I encourage everybody to just seek Him cause when you get Him you’ll never want to let Him go.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
